Manchester United v AFC Bournemouth: Both sides to get on scoresheet at Old Trafford

Manchester United saw their 40-match unbeaten run on home soil come to an end on Sunday afternoon as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of rivals Manchester City.

It is a defeat that left United 11 points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s charges in the race to be crowned as Premier League champions, and also the first time that Jose Mourinho’s men have been beaten on their own patch since City claimed a 2-1 win at Old Trafford in the top tier last term.

United, therefore, will be targeting an immediate return to winning ways when they welcome AFC Bournemouth to Old Trafford on Wednesday night and Mourinho’s charges can be backed at 2/9 (1.22) with bet365 to come out on top against the Cherries.

Eddie Howe’s men have had a disappointing start to the season, having collected just 16 points from their first 16 Premier League matches this season, but they did have Asmir Begovic to thank for their point against Crystal Palace at the weekend when he saved a stoppage time penalty kick from Christian Benteke.

Bournemouth, though, are unbeaten in four fixtures on the road and Howe’s side claimed a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Old Trafford last season; the Cherries can be backed at 11/1 (12.0) with bet365 to heap yet more misery upon Mourinho’s team by claiming all three points, while the odds compilers offer 5/1 (6.0) that these two teams settle for a share of the spoils.

There have been goals at both ends in each of United’s last four fixtures and bet365 offer a tempting 5/4 (2.25) that the trend continues in this clash, while the same firm go 13/20 (1.65) that there are least three goals scored in this game.

That selection would have landed in five of United’s last seven domestic matches at Old Trafford, whilst there has also been more than two goals scored in three of the four meetings between these rivals in the Premier League.

No side has conceded fewer goals in the top tier than United so far this season, though, while the Cherries have averaged less than one goal per game in the Premier League thus far this term; as such, the 4/5 (1.80) quote from bet365 for United to win to nil may prove popular with punters.

The Cherries, though, can make their mark at Old Trafford and the 5/4 (2.25) quote on offer from bet365 for both teams to score could well prove popular with punters here.
