Southampton v Manchester United Betting: Red Devils to continue sparkling form

Manchester United will be aiming to continue their impressive start to the season when they travel to St Mary's Stadium to take on Southampton on Saturday.

With six wins and no defeats to their name after seven matches in all competitions, the Red Devils are unsurprisingly 7/10 (1.70) favourites with bet365 to extend that form with another victory here.

Having won just three of the last 14 Premier League matches on home turf, Mauricio Pellegrino's men are 17/4 (5.25) outsiders to pull off an upset by coming out on top against their high-flying opponents.

The sides shared a 0-0 draw when they met on this ground last season, and there are odds of 5/2 (3.50) available on them cancelling each other out once again in this one.

Although in isolation that goalless stalemate could be viewed as a reasonably impressive result, it was achieved in the middle of a run that saw the Saints fail to score in six consecutive home games.

While that barren streak was brought to an end with a 3-2 victory over West Ham in the second league game of the season at St Mary's, two of those goals were scored from the penalty spot.

Having recorded just a single strike in the three subsequent fixtures, it is hard to see Pellegrino's goal-shy outfit providing much of a threat to their impressive opposition on Saturday.

With four clean sheets from their opening five league matches, Jose Mourinho's side should have little trouble in containing the hosts at one end, while a frontline that is averaging over three goals a game should prove decisive at the other.

With this in mind, odds of 7/5 (2.40) seem rather generous on United winning to nil at a ground where they have taken 14 of the last available 18 points against Southampton.
