West Ham are confident that they will be able to complete a move for Javier Hernandez, Goal understands.

The former Manchester United striker is out of favour at Bayer Leverkusen and has been targeted by the London club, who have a budget of £70 million for the summer.

Although the German side are playing hardball over the fee for the 29-year-old Mexico international, it should not be greater than £15 million.

Hernandez wants around £140,000 per week, plus a guarantee that he will be offered regular football – something he has been deprived of lately in Germany. It is not thought that this will pose an issue to the London Stadium side. 

He is eager to return to the Premier League, believing he has unfinished business following his stint at Old Trafford, where he scored 37 times in 103 outings in England’s top flight.

The Hammers, who recently signed England keeper Joe Hart, are also eager to further add to their attacking options by signing Burnley’s Andre Gray, while Marko Arnautovic of Stoke is also a target for Slaven Bilic’s side.
