Alan Pardew has turned down roles in China and Europe as he waits for the right opportunity to return to top-flight management, The Independent understands.

The former Crystal Palace boss is still hoping for a Premier League job but is happy continue his regular work for Sky Sports as he waits for the right project to present itself.

56-year-old Pardew, who left his post at Selhurst Park last December, has since received interests from a number of clubs including Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kiev.

But Pardew turned down the opportunity to succeed his former charge at West Ham, Sergiy Rebrov, and with it a tilt at European football.

Chinese Super League clubs have also courted Pardew but the Londoner is happy to remain in England for the time being, though he wouldn't rule out a job abroad.

Leicester City and Everton are currently on the hunt for coaches after dismissing Ronald Koeman and Craig Shakespeare respectively in the last seven days, but are expected to look elsewhere.

Palace, meanwhile, are on their third manager since Pardew departed the club.
