It’s the Manchester derby this weekend and as United and City lock horns for the first time this season, the classic argument about who boasts the better players roars on.

Jose Mourinho vs Pep Guardiola is always the headline act in the heavyweight battle, but there are a number of other big-name bouts on the undercard as well.

Kevin De Bruyne or Paul Pogba? Sergio Aguero or Romelu Lukaku? Marcus Rashford or Leroy Sane? The list goes on and on.

They are undoubtedly the strongest two squads in the Premier League but after going blow for blow at the start of the season with wins of four goal margins (or more in City’s case), the goals are not flowing as freely as they were, with Guardiola’s side leaving it late to grab their latest wins.

But in an ultimate XI between the two Manchester giants, who would make your team? The Independent’s northern football correspondent Mark Critchley has a go at making his. Scroll through the gallery at the top of the page to see who makes it.
