West Ham United manager David Moyes has targeted Burnley’s Scott Arfield for a January transfer.

Arfield has only six months left on his contract at Turf Moor and while Burnley have offered him an extension, West Ham are prepared to make him a better offer. West Ham have not yet opened negotiations with Burnley but they would be prepared to pay close to £2m for the 29-year-old midfielder.

Moyes is a long-term admirer of Arfield’s, having tried to sign him during his season in charge of Sunderland. Now he is desperate to add reliability and Premier League experience to the West Ham squad and sees Arfield as an attractive option.

Arfield is currently in his third Premier League season with Burnley, and has started 13 of their 22 Premier League games so far this term. He joined Sean Dyche’s side in 2013 from Huddersfield Town.
