Harry Kane scored twice while Son Heung-min and Dele Alli were also on target in a ruthless Spurs victory. Mohamed Salah had reduced the deficit in the first half.

Here, Press Association Sport's Tom Allnutt takes a closer look at Eriksen's display.

ROLE

Eriksen played in a midfield three alongside Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko against Real Madrid in midweek and he was used in a similar role here, only with Alli taking the place of Sissoko. The Dane was allowed the freedom to push forward but, coming predominantly off the right, he was also able to hurt Liverpool from deep with his pin-point passing over the top.

CONTRIBUTION

Eriksen supplied the free-kick that led to Tottenham's third goal as Joel Matip could only head the cross straight to Alli, who volleyed in at the near post to give the hosts a 3-1 lead. Earlier, Eriksen had almost laid on Son to score his second with another clipped ball through but the forward's half-volley crashed against the crossbar.

OVERALL

After scoring four goals in his previous six games for club and country, Eriksen might have been disappointed not to have added to his tally against a woeful Liverpool back-line. The midfielder was a creative influence again throughout, however, showing why many have him down as Tottenham's best player this season behind Kane. He may be rested against West Ham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, with Manchester United to come in the league next weekend.
