Adrien Silva is unable to train with Leicester until his move is completed
Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare admits he is in the dark over the Adrien Silva saga - and that he is kept abreast of some developments through the media.
Silva has been in limbo after Leicester missed the transfer deadline by 14 seconds when trying to sign him from Sporting Lisbon in a £22million deal last month.
It meant FIFA withheld the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) for the Portugal international midfielder and since then the Premier League club have been preparing an appeal.
World football's governing body has confirmed it has been asked by the Football Association to rubber stamp Silva's transfer.
In the meantime, Silva is not legally allowed to even train with the rest of the Leicester squad and Shakespeare does not know when this might change - or when the 28-year-old will be able to play for the club.
"I am a bit like everyone else and reading the FA are backing us," Shakespeare told reports at his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday's game at Bournemouth.
"I think we are letting the process take its course but every day I ask how long is the process? No one can give me an answer because it is such a unique situation.
"I want the player and I am asking can he train? Is it 24 hours, a week, two weeks?
"So my frustration is the same as everyone else's, the supporters, the club and the player. We are waiting to be told. So far I have no indication of a time frame.
"We are waiting for it to take its natural course. Without a time frame I am in the dark as much as everyone else."
Without the ITC, Silva will not be registered as a Leicester player until the next transfer window opens in January.
The FA hope to avoid that scenario and have urged FIFA to allow the move.
A FIFA spokesman confirmed to Press Association Sport: "The Football Association has requested a formal decision of the single judge of the Players Status Committee be authorised to request the International Transfer Certificate for the player Adrien Silva outside the registration period and register him with Leicester City.
"The matter is currently pending and therefore we are not in a position to comment further."
The single judge usually makes a decision within 30 days following the receipt of a valid request meaning Silva's saga could have a resolution by the end of next month.
