Vincent Janssen has joined Fenerbahce on loan

Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen has joined Fenerbahce on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Holland international struggled to make an impact at White Hart Lane after joining last summer from AZ Alkmaar, where he was the Eredivisie's leading scorer the previous season with 27 goals.

A statement on Tottenham's website on Friday read: "Vincent Janssen has joined Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce on loan for the remainder of the 2017-18 season."

Fenerbahce shared pictures on Twitter of the striker signing his contract while the player himself wrote: "Thanks for the warm welcome today! Looking forward to this new adventure in Istanbul. Haydi Fener"

Janssen scored six goals in 39 appearances for Spurs in all competitions as he served as an understudy to Harry Kane.

He had also fallen behind Son Heung-min in the pecking order and the deadline-day signing of Fernando Llorente from Swansea left Janssen surplus to requirements.
