Jose Mourinho has hinted Manchester United may have finished their transfer business this summer and stated he would be happy to head into the new season with his current line-up.
Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof have arrived at Old Trafford this summer, while United have been linked with moves to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic and Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale in recent weeks.
Yet Mourinho has now hinted he will not put pressure on United chiefs to finalse a fourth summer signing, even though he went on record earlier this summer to confirmed he wanted to add a quartet of players to his line-up ahead of the new season.
When asked if United had finished their transfer trading, Mourinho responded: “Unless something happens that puts us in the market again. Obviously, my plans were four but I also told them to be cool, there is no pressure from me, do what you think is best for the club.
“We will be together again for another window in January and one next summer so there is no pressure at all from me. I am happy with the squad we have. I’m ready to go without a fourth signing.
“My club did phenomenally well. I had four targets and got three and we signed all of them before the first match of the season. So my club did great work for me. We are in stable situation.”
Mourinho also offered his views on plans to close the transfer window in English football ahead of the start of the season, amid claims that United are not in support of the proposals.
“My opinion is that we have to adapt to the situation, no matter what,” he added.
“As a football manager and not a marketing man, just as someone who wants to work with the team and with players, I would prefer the window to close as soon as possible, so everyone knows the players we have, and the deals will be done earlier.
“Nobody will be waiting for the last week and we wouldn’t have a situation we sometimes have with players playing game No.1 for one team and game No.2 for another.”
