Ireland youngster Conor Masterson included in Liverpool's Champions League squad

Kop boss Jurgen Klopp has previously spoken highly of the Dubliner who turns 19 this week and his inclusion on the Champions League B list bodes well for his future at Anfield.

Every club participating in the group stages of the Champ[ions League must submit two lists before midnight on Thursday with the B List reserved for players born on, or after, January 1 1995.

New Liverpool hero Trent Alexander-Arnold, who scored a free kick in the last round away to Hoffenheim, is also on the B List as is exciting striker Ben Woodburn.

Masterson has been with Liverpool since the age of 13 with the Merseyside club signing him from west Dublin club Lucan United.

During a mid-season training camp in La Manga, Spain, earlier this year Klopp singled out the Republic of Ireland Under 19 international along with youngster Yan Dhanda as two players he's been impressed with.

"I knew them both from training with us already," said Klopp.

The German went on to explain how Masterson, along with Dhanda, were certainly on his radar. "We could have taken Rhian Brewster or a few other guys but Yan Dhanda and Conor Masterson are the next boys."

Philippe Coutinho has been included in the squad while right-back Nathaniel Clyne has been omitted.

Coutinho has not played for the club since attempting to force through a move to Barcelona, who saw three bids rejected for the Brazilian playmaker during the summer transfer window.

Klopp now faces the task of reintegrating the 25-year-old, who handed in a transfer request on the eve of Liverpool’s first game of the new Premier League season.

Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, who joined Liverpool from Arsenal in a £35m deal last week, is also included but Danny Ings, Lazar Markovic and the injured Clyne are not named in the squad published on Uefa's official website.

Clyne, Liverpool's first-choice right-back last season, has not featured since suffering a back problem during pre-season.

The England international has been replaced in Klopp’s line-up by youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has largely impressed since being trusted with a starting berth.
