Jurgen Klopp in tetchy post-match interview following draw at Newcastle

Philippe Coutinho had put Liverpool in the driving seat in the first half with a quality strike but Newcastle were level just seven minutes later when, once again, the Liverpool defence was all at sea and Joselu forced the ball over the line.

That's just one Premier League win in seven games for Klopp's men while they have yet to win in the Champions League following two opening draws.

Panic stations on Merseyside?

Klopp certainly seems to be showing the strain when he faced the media after today's clash at St James' Park.

When asked if the draw was a fair result, Klopp responded: "It was a fair result, because we scored once and Newcastle scored once. What do you think?"

The reporter suggested that it was a fair result which drew this retort from the fiery German: "Really? Was it the first football game you saw? We have different opinions!

"I thought that we were the better, more active side and that we created more chances. Clear chances, which we usually should use.

"Yes, I think we should have won. But I know how it works and I have to accept it.

"Did Newcastle make a chance on the counter attack? If you are dominant, you avoid the chances. I cannot remember one chance that they had on the counter attack."

Klopp did not criticise his back four for the equalising goal,

"Their goal was a good pass, played at the right moment," Klopp remarked.

For me it looked like our centre halves couldn't see the ball was with Shelvey. There were two or three players between them, and if they see it then they have to make a step and leave Joselu offside.

"In the end it is unlucky, we clear the ball pretty much but it ends up in the goal.

"We made one mistake, I would say. I'm not really sure who was responsible, but we make the mistake and it's 1-1.

"They (Newcastle) made a lot more mistakes around the situations, with Daniel Sturridge where they missed the ball twice or whatever.

"And Daniel shoots the ball immediately. Daniel with two goals this season, takes the ball, asks the goalkeeper where he wants the ball and puts it in the other corner.

"And then Mo Salah is coming, and the goal is completely empty. Unfortunately he doesn't take his chance and run the ball over the line, he jumps and shoots over the bar.

"What is my job in this moment? Shall I say 'Mo, don't do that next time and Daniel please have a look next time?' No, they know."
