West Brom boss Tony Pulis takes issue with referees after Watford draw

West Brom boss Tony Pulis cannot believe some of the decisions against his team recently

West Brom boss Tony Pulis feels aggrieved following a rough week with refereeing decisions.

Pulis took issue with the award of the free-kick that led to Watford's last-gasp equaliser in Saturday's 2-2 draw at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies manager also complained about the a mount of injury time referee Michael Oliver played as well as the treatment of Salomon Rondon by Watford's defenders after seeing his side denied a first win in five Premier League matches.

Quick-fire goals from Rondon and Jonny Evans set West Brom on course for victory, despite Abdoulaye Doucoure halving the visitors' deficit before half-time.

However, after James McClean was adjudged to have fouled Richarlison, the young Brazilian headed home Jose Holebas' delivery from the resulting set piece in the fifth minute of added time at the end of the match.

"Its very disappointing because the challenge from McClean is a fair challenge," said Pulis.

"He plays the ball, he's nowhere near the player, and the referee has got a great view of it. You expect referees to get those decisions right.

"He's got the ball because, if you watch it, it goes straight to (Craig) Dawson afterwards. If he plays the player then the ball stays still."

Following West Brom's defeat at Arsenal on Monday night, Pulis accused Alexis Sanchez of diving and "cheating" to win the free-kick that led to the Gunners' opening goal.

He also felt his team should have been awarded a penalty after Jay Rodriguez was brought down in the area by the clumsy Shkodran Mustafi.

"That's two games in a row where a decision that's gone against us has cost us a goal," said Pulis.

"Today the referee has also played a minute over time, it was well over the time added on. The challenge by McClean was made in the 95th minute and the game should have been finished, there were four added minutes.

"Referees certainly haven't helped us recently and the treatment of Salomon today as well I think should be mentioned.

"Some of the challenges on him - (Adrian) Mariappa was all over him and on his back three or four times.

"But I don't think he's had a free-kick given to him today. Like I say, I just can't believe we don't get those decisions."

Saturday was the third Premier League game this season that Watford have scored in or after the 90th minute and head coach Marco Silva felt a draw was the least his side deserved.

"We showed big character again, big personality as a team. Our players believe until the end," he said.

"I don't think anyone who watched the game can say we didn't deserve a point, it's clear to me. We came here with our philosophy, as usual, and didn't change the way we play after going 2-0 down.

"We got our reward in the last minute but I think we had chances to get it before then.

"I am satisfied until now but of course I would have liked more. Congratulations to the players because they worked really hard."
