First three games away from home

West Ham United's home fixture with Southampton on 19 August will now be played at St.Mary's, it has been confirmed.

And with trips to Manchester United (10 August) and Newcastle United (26 August) either side of the Saints fixture, West Ham will now play their first THREE games of the season away from the Olympic Stadium.

Unable to host the fixture as a result of the Athletics World Championships being staged at the Olympic Stadium, the Hammers now face an unnecessary disadvantage before a ball is even kicked as a result of the venue having been switched.

All of which means that United's first home Premier League game of the season will not take place until 9 September, when newly-promoted Huddesfield visit east London. The Hammers could however be drawn at home in the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup, which takes place in the week beginning 21 August.
