Manuel Lanzini is almost certainly out of West Ham's opening two games of the season, it has been revealed.

The in-form Argentinian international, who currently finds himself as one of the club's most valuable assets sustained a knee injury during the pre-season tour of Austria and Germany.

However Lanzini is unlikely to return to first team action until mid-August - possibly for the trip to Newcastle (26th), West Ham's third game of the 2017/18 campaign.

That means he'll definitely miss this weekend's trip to Old Trafford, for the opening game of the season (Sunday 13th), and the match against Southampton at St Mary's six days later (Saturday 19th).

Manager Slaven Bilic will also be without several other key players for this weekend's trip to Manchester, with Michail Antonio, Andy Carroll, Cheikhou Kouyate and Diafra Sakho also ruled out or considered very unlikely to play.
