MATCH of the Day 2 pundit Chris Sutton was full of praise for Burnley despite the Clarets suffering a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

The result means Burnley's wait for an away win this season goes on after goals from Georginio Wijnaldum and Emre Can overturned Ashley Barnes' opener.

But Sutton felt the Clarets could consider themselves unlucky and the former England striker was particularly impressed by Burnley's midfield pair and front two.

"(Joey) Barton and (Jeff) Hendrick in the centre of the park were superb, they won all the second balls," said Sutton in his analysis of the only Sunday Premier League game.

"You have to credit Burnley. Liverpool were poor but Burnley played really well."

"The front two particularly early on were absolutely sensational. Barnes was a really handful and (Andre) Gray with his running ability caused the Liverpool centre halves all sorts of problems."

Both Sutton and fellow pundit Mark Lawrenson praised Burnley's organisational ability and felt they deserved something out of the game.

"It is a Sean Dyche team that is well drilled and well organised and know their roles," said Sutton.

And Lawrenson added: "I don't think the manager asks them to do thinks that they can't do.

"Burnley did very little wrong."
