BURNLEY will head to Anfield full of confidence after their start to the season away from home.

That is the view of centre back James Tarkowski, who has matched the team's impressive beginning to the campaign with some strong displays of his own.

Already the Clarets have beaten champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and drawn with Tottenham at Wembley this season.

They face another tough away test against Liverpool on Sunday but so far Burnley have made light of what looked like a difficult opening few away games in the Premier League.

And Tarkowski believes there can be a benefit to getting these games out of the way in the early stages of the season, especially with the way Burnley have started.

"It's nice to get them out of the way early doors and hopefully we can keep picking up a few points away from home. Let's go there and see what we can do," he said.

"We're confident. We've picked up seven points so far and four of them have been away from home. The lads are in good spirits and we'll go there full of confidence.

"It's the complete opposite from last year so it's nice to have them points on the board. We've got to stick at it because it's a long season so we've got to keep working hard.

"It helps my cause and it helps everybody else's cause that is playing. The lads that are coming on have done good jobs - if the lads didn't come on the other week at Spurs we wouldn't have got the point because they really changed the game for us. "Woody's started (against Palace) and scored again so it's not just about the 11 that is playing at the moment, there's a lot more to it than that."

That is a sign of the increasingly impressive squad depth being gathered at Turf Moor under Sean Dyche, and Tarkowski believes it's serving Burnley well.

"I think we've really improved our squad this season," the former Brentford defender said.

"The lads who have come in have done really well, we seem to be looking strong all over the pitch now, even the lads coming on are top players. It's not like we've just got 11 lads with nobody else to back us up, we've got 18/19 lads."
