ROTHERHAM United arrive at Ewood Park tonight second only to Manchester City in terms of the number of goals scored so far this season.

In on-loan Ipswich Town striker Kieffer Moore they boast the country’s leading scorer with eight, and the Millers have notched 20 goals in nine league games, including a 5-1 win over Oldham Athletic last time out.

Rovers boss Tony Mowbray says the danger the Millers pose is clear, but expects his side to cause Paul Warne’s men problems of their own as they look to get back to winning ways following the weekend draw with Shrewsbury.

“It is another tough one against another athletic team who are the second highest scorers in the country behind Manchester City,” Mowbray said.

“There is the challenge for us to see if we can nullify that threat and ask some questions of them.

“They generally play 4-1-4-1 with one huge striker and four very fast, mobile footballers behind them, two wingers and two central midfield players, who break very quickly in to your box.

“They leave a defensive midfielder and a back four behind and attack with five and defend with five.

“We will have to manage that, they are a threat and we have to be aware and try and see that threat off and then give them some questions going the other way.”

Eighteen of the 20 Millers goals have come at home however, and their win at Portsmouth on September 3 ended a 512 day wait for an away win.

More pressing for Mowbray is trying to get his side back to winning ways after what he branded an ‘unacceptable’ performance in the 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury.

“It felt like a defeat for me because I expect better from my teams,” he said.

“I want the team to understand who we’re playing against, the responsibility of pulling on the shirt of this football club, my responsibilities as a manager and trying to reverse the fortunes of this club.

“My frustration was that we didn’t play our football.  There will be games like that, we didn’t lose against a team who is one of only three in the country yet to be beaten.

“I didn’t see it as a positive to go there and not get beat, as I expected to go there and win, but the players know my thoughts, the supporters who were there would have been disappointed with the performance but we put the point in to the bag and move on.”
