JON Walters remains absent for Burnley this weekend as he waits for a knee injury that has forced a visit to a specialist to settle down.

Walters wasn't included in the Republic of Ireland squad for their October internationals this week and Sean Dyche wouldn't put a timeframe on the 33-year-old's absence on Friday.

He said: "Jon Walters will miss out, we’ve had a look with a specialist on his knee, we just need to let it settle down, we know what it is but it needs a bit of time."

Asked if there was a timeframe on the injury, the Clarets chief added: "Not at the moment, it’s early phase of a knee, he’s had a history of that so we’re just letting it calm down."

Meanwhile Nahki Wells and Dean Marney are both back training with the first team and they could feature for the Under-23s in the next couple of weeks.

"Nahki Wells is making good progress, he’s not ready yet but he’s back in with the team training, as is Dean Marney," Dyche said.

"We’ll build on their fitness and at some point they’ll be added into games. Other than that, nothing major."
