BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche says that it would be remiss to measure his personal ambition by movement.

The Clarets chief is approaching his fifth anniversary at Turf Moor, making him the third longest serving manager in the Premier League behind Arsene Wenger and Eddie Howe.

In the last few months he has been linked to vacant positions at Sunderland, Crystal Palace, and more recently Leicester City and Everton.

With the Goodison Park hotseat yet to be filled, following the sacking of Ronald Koeman, speculation is unlikely to die down any time soon.

Two promotions, Premier League survival and an impressive start to this season have made Dyche hot property.

But when asked if it was essential to make the next step when his stock is high, the former Watford boss queried: “I don’t know, is it? Why is it so important?

“You could argue I have made the right decisions by not going anywhere else, by staying. That’s equally the same sort of balanced view of it.

“There are people in the game who say ‘you are doing okay, stay where you are’, because the grass is not always greener. You have to know what you are at now.

“Somewhere down the line of course I am ambitious enough to wonder what is out there.

“But I just keep working hard here and keeping that focus.

“It’s been very rewarding for me, for my players, for the town, and the club. I mean it sincerely.”

And he feels there is more to come.

“It’s about constant progression. It’s not about putting down a marker out there. We are very open minded and I’ve worked like that since I’ve been here,” he added.

“A lot of psychologists suggest you need a marker to go after. We’ve been very pleased with how the team demand from themselves and what we have demanded from them to keep going.

“The next most important moment is the next game. We have done that well.

“At the moment we are working with the group that we have got trying to get the best out of them, trying to demand the best out of them. And they are doing a good a job of that in themselves.”
