Liverpool will discover their opponents in the Champions League qualifying play-off round on Friday.

The fourth-place finish Jürgen Klopp’s side achieved in the Premier League last term put the Reds one step away from a return to Europe’s elite club competition.

Now they must navigate a two-legged play-off against a team who progressed from the third qualifying round via UEFA’s league route system.

Liverpool are one of the five seeded clubs in the section and can be paired with Steaua Bucharest, Young Boys, Hoffenheim, Nice or Istanbul Basaksehir in the penultimate stage before the tournament proper.

The qualifying play-off draw will take place at 11am BST on Friday at UEFA headquarters in Nyon.

The two legs of the tie will be played on August 15/16 and August 22/23.
