The No.23 opened the scoring after just 10 minutes at Anfield when he converted at the near post via the aid of a deflection to make the first mark in the 4-2 win.
However, Can's second - and the Reds' third - of the night will live long in the memory as a devastating team move down the left resulted in Roberto Firmino hooking the ball to the back post to allow the midfielder to sweep in from close range.
In addition to his brace, the Germany international produced a commanding display - a feat made all the more remarkable when Jürgen Klopp revealed afterwards that he'd been ill in the build-up to the fixture.
