Ben Woodburn marked his senior international debut by scoring the winning goal as Wales beat Austria 1-0 on Saturday.

The 17-year-old became his country's second youngest goalscorer of all-time just five minutes after emerging from the bench at the Millennium Stadium to make his full bow.

Woodburn's unstoppable right-footed drive from the edge of the box ensured Chris Coleman's side remain in the mix for World Cup qualification.

Reflecting on the moment, the Liverpool forward told Sky Sports: "The ball just came out of the air and I just tried to shoot it as quickly as I could.

"It's a great feeling, I couldn't ask for much more from the fans. I won't sleep tonight."

The teenager's Reds teammate Danny Ward is also part of the Welsh squad, but remained on the bench as his country claimed a crucial three points.

Elsewhere in Europe, heavy rain forced the suspension of Croatia's qualifier against Kosovo, a game which Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren had been selected to start.

And there was frustration for Sadio Mane and Senegal as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Burkina Faso, the wideman playing the entire 90 minutes in Dakar.
