Liverpool's players have returned from international duty in high spirits and Jürgen Klopp is confident they will be raring to go for Saturday's trip to Manchester City.

The majority of Klopp’s squad have reported back to Melwood over the last couple of days following their commitments with their countries.

Of course, the Reds’ international contingent went into the break on the back of an excellent start to the season with their club, which culminated in the hugely impressive 4-0 win over Arsenal at Anfield on August 27.

A predominantly successful stint with their national teams has only added to the upbeat mood around Melwood, and Klopp wants his side to use that positivity and pick up where they left off against the Gunners at Etihad Stadium tomorrow lunchtime.

LFCTV GO: Klopp discusses City trip

“[It’s a massive game] for both of us. The two teams who travelled most in the last few weeks play at 12.30!” the manager told Liverpoolfc.com at Melwood on Thursday.

“But the show must go on, we need to be ready at 12.30 and it’s the same for Man City, of course. It’s a very exciting game like it is always - these are the most intense games and if you are not ready to work against City then you can stay at home because you cannot get anything.

“We need to be ready for work but everybody who was in the building this morning felt the happiness of the players when they came back, so they are in a good mood.

“They all had kind of success, not all of them 100 per cent in both games, but I think a lot of them can be fine with their performances. We had a good performance before, but now we have to involve the greed again and put on a Liverpool shirt and go again.”
