Joel Matip was one of the standout performers as Liverpool were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Manchester United at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds dominated their latest Premier League meeting with Jose Mourinho's side but, unfortunately, were unable to find the breakthrough against a deep-lying opposition backline.

Matip was key to the hosts controlling the contest, helping marshal the threat of United striker Romelu Lukaku while also utilising his quality on the ball to kickstart attacks for his own team.

And, in the end, the 26-year-old came closer than any other player on the pitch to breaking the deadlock, seeing a close-range effort acrobatically saved by David de Gea.
