Olivier Giroud prevented Arsenal suffering back-to-back Premier League defeats with a late header at Southampton.
Charlie Austin's third-minute strike looked set to be enough to seal all three points for the home side on a disappointing afternoon for Arsene Wenger's side.
Austin pounced early in the piece after being slid through by Dusan Tadic to fire emphatically past Petr Cech.
But Giroud, who had started the game on the bench, nodded home from Alexis Sanchez's cross to earn a point.
