Speculation is mounting over Liverpool star Emre Can's future after he admitted it was “an honour” to receive an offer to join Juventus this summer.

The German defensive midfielder has added more 'fuel to the flames' by further admitting he does not know what the future will hold - or what his current manager Jurgen Klopp's plans for him are.

The Liverpool Echo reports that Can's future has been a hot topic of conversation over recent months - and his scoring his first international goal for Germany on Saturday will do little to dampen that.

Can - who has made more than 100 league appearances for Liverpool - is into the final year of his contract at Anfield, with talks over a new one yet to progress.

Juventus are keen to take the 23-year-old to Italy, and made a concrete offer in the summer, which Liverpool rejected.

"It's always an honour to receive an offer from such a renowned club, but currently I am only focused on the season with Liverpool,” Can said.

“My agent takes care of the rest.”

Can meanwhile remains a key player for the Reds, having made nine appearances already this season.

And though he hinted that he would be happy to remain in England beyond this season, he has admitted that his future remains uncertain at this stage.

He said: "The Premier League is just a really cool league, the most interesting in the world, but you must always respect other big clubs and leagues.

"You never know what will happen. And I don't know what Jurgen Klopp plans."

Can is in contention to return to Liverpool's starting line-up for their crunch game with Manchester United on Saturday, and warmed up for the clash by scoring his first international goal for Germany in their 5-1 win over Azerbaijan on Sunday.
