Stoke City striker Jese Rodriguez has released heartbreaking images of his baby son Nyan fighting for his life in a Spanish hospital.

The former Real Madrid forward, who scored the winner on his Stoke debut, has been at his son's bedside in Gran Canaria after he was born four months premature.

And he has also posted a tribute video in which he has had his son's initials shaved into his hair, with Jese commenting: "The N, Nyan, my warrior."

The on-loan Paris St-Germain star has also received many messages of support from his followers and who have told him to stay strong for Nyan.

Jese has been trying to support the baby's mother, model Aurah Ruiz.

The Spanish international recently wrote: "If the world believes you are not enough good, this is a lie. You are the best thing could never happen to me.

"Every day beside you I learn from you, from your strength, your wish to, your attitude of never giving up, your tenderness, your serenity even if you are so small, your way of suffering and how step by step you are moving forward.

"Anyway, a lot of things that fill my heart in this difficult situation, despite this, you will bring me happiness. Thanks, Nyan".

In September Stoke boss Mark Hughes praised the striker for playing on through personal turmoil over his newborn baby son.

Hughes revealed the full extent of the difficult start to Jese’s Stoke career, with the 24-year-old combining impressive performances with regular trips home to visit Nyan.

The baby was born prematurely shortly before Jese’s loan move to Stoke from Paris Saint Germain on August 16 and is still in hospital in Gran Canaria following complications and an operation.

That has led to Jese combining training at his new club with flights to be at his son’s side.

Jese this week published an emotional social media post about Nyan and Hughes said: “It’s not easy for him at the moment.

“His young child is ill and he’s preoccupied with that away from the football but when he comes in to training he’s fully focused on his football.

“Hopefully things will resolve themselves in the way everybody wants and his baby will start to improve and he’ll be in a better place.

“Given all those things away from the pitch, I think he’s done remarkably well.”

Jese also hailed his partner Aurah Ruiz for her strength. The striker has three children, but Nyan is his first with the model.

He said: "Always with you. Everything will be fine, and I will always be by your side.

"Thanks to my baby Aurah Ruiz for being so brave with everything you are going through, I will always follow with you.

"I love you very much always in my heart, whatever happens.

"Being a mum for the first time is difficult but I promise that I will not fail you and I will be in all with you and my children."

On her social media Aurah responded to one of Jese's fans and confirmed that the baby boy did not have diabetes, as had been reported in the Spanish media.

She said that Nyan's lungs had not been fully developed owing to his premature birth, but he is recovering well.
