Raheem Sterling netted an injury-time winner – and was then sent off for celebrating with his own fans – in a crazy finale as Bournemouth lost a third consecutive Premier League defeat.

Charlie Daniels had smashed home the Cherries's first goal of the season in stunning style after 11 minutes with a shot into the top corner.

The goal sparked City into action – and saw former Chelsea defender Nathan Ake.

The visitors equalised after 21 minutes when Gabriel Jesus took a quick free quick and received a return ball from David Silva to hold off the Dutchman and slot home.

Two minute later the £20m summer signing should have seen a last-man red when he clipped the Brazilian forward after he lost possession but Mike Dean showed only a yellow.

And as City pushed forward, Ake then gave away the ball again with a sloppy sideways pass only for Bernardo Silva to shoot straight at Aamir Begovic. Both sides hit the woodwork in the second half.

Josh King curled a shot against the post from a Harry Arter pass, And then the unmarked Nicolas Otamendi headed a Kevin De Bruyne header against the upright at the other end.

City dominated possession but could not find the breakthrough. Guardiola threw on Sergio Aguerro for Bernardo Silva, who tired after a bright start, after 65 minutes.

Managers Guardiola and Eddie Howe had a touchline fallout in injury time as tempers frayed. after City returned possession after Aamir Begovic threw the ball out for an injury and then immediately pressed when the ball was back in play.

The Spaniard had grown increasingly annoyed at what he claimed was Cherries time-wasting. Fourth official Lee Probert called over Mike Dean and the referee warned both managers about their conduct.

But during the five minutes of injury time, Sterling shot into the net and dived into the visiting crowd to be shown a second yellow.

Charlie Daniels reacts

Daniels netted probably the goal of his life, but is not happy at ref Mike Dean.

Here is what the left back had to say to the BBC.

“There was only five minutes of added on time so ask the referee why we played seven.

Then in the lead-up to the goal, he awarded a free-kick which was perfectly a timed tackle by Lys Mousset. It was gutting for us to concede after that and I would like to found out where he got that extra time from.

It was a nice goal (by me). I thought why not have a crack at it and fortunately it went in.”

5 talking points

That game had almost everything!

Wonder goal. Tick.

Late drame. Tick.

Red card. Tick

Here are 5 talking points from the match.

Aguero vs the police

In all the kerfuffle after the goal Aguero had a coming together with a member of the local constabulary.

Seems like he wasn’t happy with the police manhandling players as they celebrated.

One to keep an eye on.

Ouch

Reckless or perfect old school tackle?

This from Cook on Jesus blurred the line.

Only a throw in in the end as he just won ball before man.

Niggling second half

City are well in control of the game but aren’t really creating anything.

Bournemouth have been forced to camp out in their own half and are holding their head above water admirably.

All very bitty.

City on top

Since equalising City have been the side in the ascendancy.

Only half chances though as they battle to beat Begovic again.

Guardiola has gone through the emotions on the touch line.

Anger at the goal, laughing at the fourth official and deep concentration on the game.

Gabriel Jesus' classy finish

For all Daniels’ power and rocketness, Jesus’s was the complete opposite.

Classy from assist to finish.

Pure Pep Guardiola.

Charlie Daniels' rocket

Simply stunning.

Just look at the technique on that!

Joshua King’s reaction in the back ground sums it all up.

GOAL! Bournemouth 1-1 Manchester City (Jesus)

Well the fun of Bournemouth leading didn’t last long did it!

A lovely through ball from David Silva is latched onto by Gabriel Jesus.

Jesus touched and finished with a little bit of style.

1-1 and this game could go either way.

GOAL! Bournemouth 1-0 Manchester City (Daniels)

WHAT. A. STRIKE.

That’s the way to score your club’s first goal of the season.

Charlie Daniels is forward from left back and decides to just ping one into the top corner, in off the bar.

Stunning stuff!

Early action

Bournemouth have started the livelier so far.

Playing City at their own high intensity game - the worry is if they tire.

As always, looks like loverly weather on the south coast.

Why can’t all football be played there?

Only one winner?

Bournemouth have faced Manchester City 10 times. How many times have they won?

None, zero, zilch, nada.

So the likelihood of a home win is very low.

Since the Cherries reached the Premier League City have won 5-1, 4-0, 4-0 and 2-0.

Jermain Defoe

When Jermain Defoe returned to Bournemouth this summer he must have thought he would have been the main striker.

But Eddie Howe has stuck with Benik Afobe and Joshua King...until today.

Defoe makes his Premier League debut.

He likes facing City as well - he has netted nine goals in 24 games against the club.

Good omen for the Cherries.

Aguero vs Jesus

Has Pep Guardiola nailed his colours to the mast on who his No.1 striker is?

So far this season he has gone with two strikers but for the first time he has changed around the system to just the one.

And Gabriel Jesus is his man.

One word of warning, Jesus suffered his almost season ending injury here last season...

Welcome, everyone!

Jermain Defoe could retain his place up front when Bournemouth host Manchester City.

Defoe played 90 minutes at Birmingham in the Carabao Cup in midweek and Cherries boss Eddie Howe was impressed with his performance.

Howe has no fresh injury concerns but captain Simon Francis (hamstring) and midfielder Junior Stanislas (groin) remain sidelined, along with long-term absentee Callum Wilson (knee).

Manchester City will be without Kyle Walker through suspension for the game.

The right-back was controversially sent off in Monday’s draw against Everton and is set to be replaced in the line-up by fellow new signing Danilo.

Left-back Benjamin Mendy (thigh) will travel with the squad but the game may come too soon, while midfielder Ilkay Gundogan (knee) will feature for the elite development squad.
