This game will probably be last on Match of the Day - but neither Sean Dyche nor David Wagner will mind too much as their teams continued their fine starts.

Huddersfield’s latest shut-out - with Christopher Schindler outstanding - took them to nine points and they are building the foundations for a successful survival campaign.

Burnley are matching them point for point and they increasingly look established in the Premier League.

Robin van La Parra provided the game’s controversy when he was booked for diving under a challenge from Matthew Lowton in an attempt to win a penalty.

Chances were at a premium in this first top-flight meeting between the Roses rivals since March 1971 and Chris Wood spurned a fine opportunity when he headed wide from Stephen Ward’s cross.

Huddersfield posed more of a threat after half-time, although that wasn’t hard, and Laurent Depoitre was denied by Nick Pope when his right-foot shot from Tom Ince’s lay-off was saved.

Wood threatened again and Jonas Lossl kept out his flick at the near post as the game finally opened up.

Ince fired a 25-yard left-foot narrowly wide before a van La Parra’s effort was kept out by the diving Pope.

Early team news

Jon Walters and Nahki Wells have been ruled out of Burnley’s game against Huddersfield.

Walters is recovering from a knee injury and Wells, who has yet to make his Clarets debut, will not face the club he left on deadline day as he manages his comeback from ankle trouble.

Nick Pope is set to retain the gloves in the absence of Tom Heaton (shoulder), and Adam Legzdins is likely to continue on the bench ahead of new arrival Anders Lindegaard.

Danny Williams has been ruled out with a fractured foot and joins a list of players unavailable.

Midfielder Williams is scheduled to see a specialist after sustaining the injury in last week’s home draw against Leicester, while Steve Mounie (foot) and fellow striker Collin Quaner (knee) are still out.

Another striker, Laurent Depoitre, and winger Rajiv van La Parra are hoping to shake off muscle strains. On-loan Chelsea midfielder Kasey Palmer (hamstring) and defender Jon Gorenc Stankovic (knee) remain long-term absentees.
