Diafra Sakho had the last laugh after his last-minute winner turned the East end boos to cheers.

Until Sakho's late intervention, this was the Taj Mahal of stinkers among monuments to tedium.

Last on Match of the Day is much too good for such pitiful dross.

There were two Ayew brothers, two Carrolls, a Fernandez and a Hernandez on the pitch, plus empty seats and restless natives. Everything except good football.

You can include West Ham striker Javier Hernandez among the malcontents after he was hooked, in favour of Sakho, 12 minutes from time – a decision greeted with mutiny in the bubble-blowing legions.

Chicharito sat in the dugout, muttering sweet nothings and shaking his head – but manager Slaven Bilic's big call proved spot-on.

Poor old Swansea. They had never kept a clean sheet in 31 visits to West Ham, conceding 74 goals in the process, and they were on course for a second consecutive shut-out in an iconic London venue until Sakho met fellow sub Arthur Masuaku's cross with a firm volley at the far post.

But West Ham made desperately hard work of it. They were absolutely dreadful for 45 minutes and any improvement after the break was marginal.

Pockets of boos had already broken out, as the home side gave the ball away like Green Shield stamps with every gallon of petrol, by the time Wilfried Bony's powerful drive extended Joe Hart.

The best highlights of a forlorn half for the Eastenders were in striker Andy Carroll's man-bun, but the service was so lousy he might as well have put a pink carnation in his barnet.

Better late than never, a decent cross finally arrived from Antonio seven minutes after the restart and Carroll, stretching to reach it at the far post, could not apply enough contact to make it count.

And the great Geordie totem was even closer to winner four minutes from time, glancing sub Arthur Masuaku's cross against the angle of bar and post with Fabianski stranded.

Welcome

Manuel Lanzini and Michail Antonio are in the West Ham squad for the visit of Swansea.

Lanzini is fit after a month out with a knee injury and Antonio has shrugged off the groin problem which forced him off against Tottenham last weekend.

Pedro Obiang is still missing with a muscle injury and James Collins has ankle trouble.

Swansea skipper Leon Britton is under consideration for a Premier League return at West Ham.

The veteran’s only appearance this season came on the opening day at Southampton but he has now made a full recovery from a knee injury as head coach

Paul Clement considers his midfield options.

On-loan Renato Sanches and Tammy Abraham could also return as Ki Sung-yueng (knee) and Nathan Dyer (Achilles) prepare to build their fitness in an under-23 game against Celtic.
