Alexis Sanchez converted a stoppage-time penalty as Arsenal snatched all three points at Burnley.

Clarets defender James Tarkowski was penalised for his shove on Aaron Ramsey in the 91st minute and Sanchez made no mistake from the spot to clinch the Gunners just their second league win on the road this season.

It was cruel on Burnley. Arsenal skipper Laurent Koscielny struck a controversial winner in time added on in the corresponding fixture last season and Sanchez's late spot-kick sank Sean Dyche's side at the Emirates in January this year.

In the second half, Arsenal hogged possession and Burnley waited for the counter, while Wilshere fired wide from the edge of the area and Mee put in another crucial block on Ramsey's snap-shot.

But just when it appeared Burnley had taken another point off one of the Premier League's top six - they won at Chelsea on the opening day and have drawn against Liverpool and Tottenham - Tarkowski's push was spotted by referee Lee Mason and Sanchez condemned them to their third league defeat of the season.

Xhaka: How Wenger has helped me cut out red cards

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has revealed how Arsene Wenger has helped him cut out the red cards which marred his first season in the Premier League.

The Swiss enforcer was dismissed against Swansea and Burnley his debut campaign for the Gunners, with his Turf Moor red last January his ninth in three seasons.

But the 25-year-old has only been booked three times and incurred no red cards so far in this campaign as he appears to have turned over a new leaf.

Xhaka prepares to face Burnley again on Sunday and has revealed that Wenger has worked with him on the training ground to hone his timing after giving him video footage to study.

PSG favourites to land Sanchez

Paris Saint-Germain are now the hot favourites to sign Alexis Sanchez.

The Chile star’s contract at Arsenal runs out in May, and the striker is unlikely to sign a new deal.

It means the 28-year-old can sign a pre-contract agreement with a club outside of England – and PSG are ready to move in.

They have earmarked Sanchez as the man to replace Brazil star Neymar.

There is increasing uncertainty on the future of PSG’s £220million man. He seems certain to leave France and return to Spain next season by signing for Real Madrid.

Neymar, who only joined PSG in August, has consistently refused to quash the speculation about the link to Real.

Wilshere still waiting

Jack Wilshere has not spoken to Gareth Southgate about his England exile but says his “phone is always on” as the World Cup edges closer.

The Arsenal midfielder missed out on a recall to the Three Lions squad for the recent friendlies against Germany and Brazil despite seemingly having put his injury woes behind him.

Wilshere has struggled to keep fit for the past two years and spent last season on loan at Bournemouth in an attempt to play more football.

The 25-year-old has been playing for the Gunners in the Europa League and Carabao Cup this season but has seen his Premier League game time limited to 25 minutes across two substitute appearances.

After omitting Wilshere from his squad, Southgate pointed to his recent injury record as well as the fact he is not a regular in Arsenal’s first-choice line-up as reasons behind the decision.
