Marko Arnautovic inspired West Ham to their biggest win under David Moyes as the Hammers took another significant step on the road to safety.

West Ham moved up to 11 place in the Premier League, above Huddersfield, after demolishing David Wagner's side with a ruthless second-half display.

Arnautovic scored his fifth goal in as many Premier League games and created another as Moyes provided further vindication of his appointment by the West Ham board.

West Ham were 18 when Moyes was appointed on November 7, with two wins from 11 games, but have taken 15 points from their last eight matches to move five points clear of the relegation zone.

The visitors took the lead in the 24 minute, skipper Mark Noble taking full advantage of a calamitous mix-up between Huddersfield keeper Jonas Lossl and Joe Lolley.

Lossl put Lolley under needless pressure by playing a short pass to him, despite the fact his team-mate was surrounded by claret and blue shirts.

Arnautovic dispossessed Lolley and Noble seized on the loose ball, steering an assured near-post finish beyond the reach of Lossl.

It was a goal entirely self-inflicted, but the home side were back on level terms five minutes before the break, Lolley atoning for his earlier blunder with a majestic finish.

West Ham's defence stood off Lolley, who cut inside from the right before curling an exquisite left-foot finish past Adrian.

But the visitors regained the lead within a minute of the restart, Arnautovic seizing on Cheik Kouyate's flick-on, taking the ball over Tommy Smith to score.

Arnautovic then turned provider in the 56 minute, turning away from his pursuers and slipping the ball inside for Manuel Lanzini to score with a clinical finish.

Lanzini claimed his second of the game five minutes later, sweeping the ball high into the net after a rapid counter-attack made possible by the pace of Arnautovic.

After a bright start to the season, which included a famous victory over Manchester United, Huddersfield are winless in five Premier League games and heading in the wrong direction.

Joe Lolley has atoned for his part in West Ham’s opener by plundering a superb equaliser to level the score at 1-1. West Ham’s defence stood off Lolley, who was allowed to cut inside and curl a majestic left-foot shot beyond the reach of Adrian.

David Moyes is, understandably, furious with his defence for allowing Lolley the time and space to score.

West Ham lead after Mark Noble took full advantage of a cock-up between Huddersfield keeper Jonas Lossl and Joe Lolley, who came for the ball, only to be dispossessed with ease by Marko Arnautovic, with Noble stepping in to steer the ball into the net.

It was an embarrassingly soft goal for the hosts to concede, but West Ham are worthy of their lead, having pressed the Terriers high up the pitch and playing with an impressive intensity throughout.

Pritchard set for Terriers debut against West Ham

Huddersfield have completed the signing of Alex Pritchard from Norwich for an undisclosed fee, the Premier League club have announced.

The Terriers have agreed personal terms with Pritchard after an improved undisclosed bid for the 24-year-old had been accepted earlier in the week.

“We’re delighted to announce that pritch-93 joins #htafc from NorwichCityFC for an undisclosed free, signing a three and a half year deal,” Huddersfield revealed on Twitter.

Pritchard could make his Terriers debut in Saturday’s home Premier League game against West Ham.

“Huddersfield Town has today completed the permanent transfer of Alex Pritchard from Sky Bet Championship side Norwich City,” read a club statement.

“The 24-year-old moves to Yorkshire for an undisclosed fee, putting pen to paper on a contract running until the summer of 2021, with a further year’s option in Town’s favour.”

The Terriers are reported to have paid between £10million and £14m.

Head coach David Wagner said: “I’m very happy to be able to welcome Alex to Huddersfield Town.

“He is exactly the type of player that we like to work with at this club. Alex is a young British player who arrives as one of the top performers in the Sky Bet Championship and with a desire to prove himself in the Premier League.

“Now we will work hard with him to give him every possibility of being a success for us in the top division.

“I’d like to thank (chairman) Dean Hoyle and the board for being as supportive as ever in this transfer window and making this transfer possible.”

Pritchard progressed through West Ham’s academy before switching to Tottenham aged 16 in 2009 and, after loan spells at Peterborough and Swindon, made his Premier League debut as a substitute in the final game of the 2013-14 season.

The former England Under-21 international spent the following season on loan at Brentford and made his second and final appearance for Tottenham early in the 2015-16 campaign.

After a brief loan spell at West Brom, Pritchard completed a permanent move to Norwich for a reported fee of £8m in August 2016.

He made a total of 43 first-team appearances for Norwich, scoring eight goals, and becomes Huddersfield’s second January signing following the arrival of Terence Kongolo on loan from Monaco.
