It's Christmas time, and unless you're a Manchester City fan there is definitely a need to be afraid, am I right, Manchester United supporters!?

The festive period should be a time for fans to switch off and forget all about football, but unfortunately for supporters of Premier League clubs, this time is perhaps the busiest of the season. So no such luck there.

For a bit of fun, and to get all you Manchester United fans in the spirit - well, Jose Mourinho isn't going to, is he? - we've come up with five things every Red Devils supporter wants this Christmas.

So without further ado, we bring you...

He's making a list, he's checking it twice (

Manchester City to over-eat on the big day

We were going to go for something along the lines of 'food poisoning' but we thought that would probably be a little extreme.

That said, we're pretty sure every Manchester United fan on the planet would like to see their rivals suffer a dip in form after the festive period.

Currently the Citizens are running away with the Premier League at a canter and rubbed the Red Devils' noses in it at Old Trafford recently.

The buffet is now open! (

For the sake of the competition, and for Manchester United fans to have any hope of closing the 11-point gap on their rivals, let's hope Kevin De Bruyne and co. go a little wild on the old mince pies.

A winger wrapped up with a pretty bow

Manchester United were linked with a move for Ivan Perisic all summer but just couldn't get the transfer over the line.

Mourinho was frustrated to say the least - something he has made clear on a number of occasions since - and is still in need of a quality wide man.

All I want for Christmas is my Perisic (

According to our stats on the club here, the Red Devils have created just 47 chances from a right wing position since the start of last season - Man City have created 94 chances from this side for reference - meaning one could be on the Portuguese's shopping list.

And of course, on the very top of the Manchester United fans' Christmas list... well, how else are you going to catch City? Suppose there's always the above.

For the Southampton game to be called off

If there is one thing that gets on Mourinho's nerves it's fixture congestion. Although he does a great job of not showing his frustration...

The Red Devils' Christmas period - as we sort of touched on earlier - is busy, and we mean really, really BUSY.

While other teams have a bit of a gap between games, United play on the 20th, 23rd, 26th, 30th, 1st and 5th. That's six matches in just 16 days! And well, actually a bit ridiculous to be honest.

Something like this would be perfect (

Buried in the middle of these fixtures (30th) is a clash with Southampton at Old Trafford, which, really, just doesn't need to be there.

Fans enjoy watching their team play on Boxing Day and News Year's Day - the fixtures either side of it - but the 30th? Really?

We're sure there will be more than a few Red Devils supporters hoping for some very, very heavy snowfall on the night of the 29th for the sake of their team's fitness.

Mesut Ozil a little earlier than expected

The Arsenal midfielder appears to be allowing his contract to simply run down in north London so that he can leave the club on a free at the end of the season.

Manchester United appears to be the German's most likely destination after MirrorSport revealed back October that he told his Gunners teammates he would be joining the Old Trafford club.

But no one likes to wait to have to open a present they know they're going to get, especially when there is a great opportunity in which to get said present sooner than expected.

Sure it's good to be patient and all that, but we reckon there is going to be more than a few Red Devils supporters hoping Mourinho opens his chequebook to sign Ozil a few months early.

After all, the German could really add that bit of creative magic alongside Paul Pogba in the middle of the Old Trafford park.

David De Gea to announce he's going to stay

It's the season of giving, but we think this is one cherished item Red Devils supporters will be keen to keep hold of this Christmas.

The Spanish shot-stopper has been linked with a move to Real Madrid ever since 2014, and annoyingly, the La Liga giants just won't get the hint to GO AWAY.

Making things worse - or better, depending on whatever way you look at it - De Gea has been in staggeringly good form over the past month, which will only make the prospect of signing him even more enticing from a Real Madrid point of view.

Baby if you've got to go away (

Fortunately Los Blancos do appear to be eyeing up Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois as an alternative, which would see the Spaniard stay put.

Here's hoping Zinedine Zidane and co. steer clear of Manchester this Christmas... well, it's pretty cold there this time of the year, so it would make more more sense to stay in Madrid, right?
