Alberto Moreno caught the eye for all the right reasons as Liverpool took to their Melwood training pitch ahead of this weekend's clash with Manchester United.

The Spanish left-back stunned both his teammates and himself as he hit the back of the net with a spectacular scorpion kick.

A video showed the Reds defender playing a one-two before getting into the box and finding himself in an unmarked position.

Studying the flight of the ball, Moreno anticipated where it would fall and connected with the back of his ankle to send it over his head.

The effort nestled nicely into the right hand corner of the goal as the Spaniard ran back into position with a huge smile on his face.

Moreno, whose Liverpool career looked to be over last season, has featured nine times for the Merseyside outfit this campaign.

The Spaniard played the full 90 minutes for the Reds last time out as they were held to a draw by Premier League new comers Newcastle.

Moreno is in contention to start Liverpool's next game, a must-win derby against bitter rivals Manchester United at Anfield.
