Alexandre Lacazette admits he is honoured to be compared to Arsenal legend Ian Wright.

The Frenchman is with his new teammates in Australia and looks set to make his debut against Sydney FC on Thursday.

Arsene Wenger has splashed out £52million on Lacazette, who scored 36 times in all competitions last term.

His goalscoring achievements have drawn comparisons with Wright and Lacazette hopes he can have a similar career to the former striker.

"I know about Ian Wright very well. I’ve never seen him play but if I am compared to him that is great," he said.

If I have a career where fans think of me like they do about Ian Wright then I’ll be very happy.

"I have arrived at a very special club, a very good club who are very organised.

"With the other players in the team, there are very high levels so it is a great opportunity for me to improve."

With Alexis Sanchez yet to link up with the Arsenal squad, Lacazette could play alongside Olivier Giroud on Thursday.

However, the Frenchman has admitted he could leave this summer amid interest from Everton and West Ham.

"I am an Arsenal player and for the moment I am here so I just want to prepare well for the season and we will see later," he said.

"We will see about my future but I am still an Arsenal player for the moment.”
