Alexis Sanchez is finally back training with Arsenal as speculation continues to surround his long-term future with the north London club.

The Gunners superstar flew back from Chile on Monday night after he came down with a bout of flu over the weekend which delayed his return to England.

The 28-year-old trained on his own with Arsenal fitness coach Barry Solan and will look to build up his fitness ahead of the new season.

Sanchez continues to be linked with a big money move to Manchester City and reports suggest he is ready to hand in a transfer request if Arsene Wenger blocks a move to their Premier League rivals.

Wenger made an astonishing claim at the weekend that it is 'ideal' for players such as Sanchez to go into the final year of their contract without signing a new deal.

The Arsenal boss is adamant it will not affect his performances and is still convinced he will stay with the club.

Sanchez will not be available for the Community Shield against Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday and he faces a race against time to prove his fitness for the opening Premier League game against Leicester on Friday August 11.

The talented forward has made it clear that he wants to play in the Champions League, but Wenger is doing everything in his power to ensure he stay at Arsenal.

The club are believed to have offered him a new £300,000 a week deal, but Sanchez has yet to commit his long-term future and a new contract is a long way from being agreeed.
