Alexis Sanchez was booed on his first appearance at the Emirates Stadium after his transfer deadline day move move to Manchester City fell through.

The Chilean came off the bench along with Olivier Giroud with 15 minutes remaining of the Gunners' 3-0 win over Bournemouth , with the pair replacing two-goal Danny Welbeck and Alexandre Lacazette, who grabbed Arsenal's other strike.

Sanchez - who had seemed set for a move to City after Pep Guardiola's men bid £50m for his services in the closing days of the transfer window - has been vocal on his desire to leave the North London club, but a deal couldn't be struck.

And while there were cheers from some supporters when he entered the field, the boos that accompanied them were impossible to ignore.

Those who were on the scene tweeted about the boos, with Daily Mirror's chief football writer John Cross writing: "Sanchez gets mixed reception. A lot of boos in there with the cheers... Interesting..."

Others also passed comment, claiming that there were also songs in support of the forward.

The Chilean could earn a first start since the transfer furore in the Europa League clash at home to Cologne on Thursday.
