Alexis Sanchez showed off his badly swollen ankle after inspiring Chile's victory over Cameroon.

The Arsenal superstar started on the bench in the Confederations Cup encounter after picking up the injury in training.

He was introduced just before the hour mark and the substitution had the desired impact as he set up Arturo Vidal for Chile's opener.

Eduardo Vargas added a second late on as Chile opened their account with three points.

Sanchez appeared in discomfort after the game and images showed tape around his ankle.

The 28-year-old's Arsenal future remains the source of much speculation amid interest from Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

Sanchez is yet to sign a new deal at the Emirates after talks over an extension stalled.

The Gunners are determined not to sell to a Premier League rival but Bayern fear he will price himself out of a move.
