Arsenal fans don't take much to be riled but on this occasion they have good reason.

Alexis Sanchez was snubbed for the final 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d'Or award.

And while that would have been enough, the Gunners faithful were even more angry when they discovered Philippe Coutinho did make it, with many adamant he enjoyed a superior season.

Sanchez enjoyed an incredible year, scoring a career-high 30 in all competitions and also chipping in with 19 assists.

His season was not limited to individual moments and stats though, with the Gunners overcoming Manchester City and Chelsea as underdogs to win the FA Cup.

Sanchez has also shone for Chile, dragging them to the brink of Russia 2018 in the fearsome CONMEBOL World Cup qualification.

A match-winner during this international break to down Ecuador after they had drawn level showed his match-winning ability.

While Coutinho also enjoyed a fine season, his moments were more sporadic, scoring 14 times and assisting nine more.

The debate will rage on but for once Arsenal fans have some rationale behind their outrage.
