The Arsenal fan who got Jack Wilshere's jersey when he ran on to the pitch at Everton left Goodison Park empty handed after stewards 'snatched it away from him.'

Wilshere was spotted handing over his shirt to the supporter who jumped over the hoardings at the end of the 5-2 victory on Sunday.

As the players made their way over to the away end, Daniel Dawson, 27, from Preston, Lancs, entered the field of play.

Stewards initially restrained him but Wilshere was still able to hand over his match-worn jersey.

But brickie Daniel's day soon turned sour though as he left Merseyside without Wilshere's shirt.

Despite clearly entering the pitch, Daniel said it was only to trying to look out for his little brother.

"Me and my little brother both went down to the pitch side when the board went up for stoppage time to try and meet a couple of the players at the end," he said.

"But we scored in the 91st minute so we got pushed forwards and my brother ended up over the barrier."

Then Daniel says he only joined him because he needed belongings to get back home.

"He had my keys, iPhone and money so I couldn't get home without him," he added. "But the stewards got funny with me and told me to immediately leave the ground.

"It was a spur of the moment, I ran around the bloke onto the pitch - I'm not a hooligan or anything!

"The Arsenal players were laughing at me and Jack shouted something like 'what a guy you are, you're my man' before handing over his shirt.

"The police were happy for me to keep it, but the stewards had other ideas.

"I'm a die-hard Arsenal fan but this was my first game of the season. It costs a lot of money to go to watch and this game has left me skint for the week and now it's going to cost me a lot more in fines."

"All the Arsenal fans cheered and I walked off with the police. I complied with what they were telling me to do.

"Obviously, I didn't want to lose Wilshere's shirt and shoved it down my trousers. The stewards managed to rip it out, though.

"Jack Wilshere is my favourite player and I know he is one of the boys. He's a normal guy.

"I'm absolutely gutted. I know I am going to get a big fine and I haven't even come away with the shirt."

Dawson has tried to contact Gunners midfielder Wilshere on social media in an attempt to receive a match-worn shirt, but with no success.

Mirror Online have contacted Everton FC to see what has happened to the shirt.
