Liam Brady is making a return to a front line role at Arsenal - just 17 months after leaving the club.

Gunners legend Brady, 59, will take up an ambassadorial position but will take a special interest in the club’s youth set-up.

Brady will oversee players being loaned out, the country’s best youngsters being recruited and also ensuring they stay at Arsenal.

Former Republic of Ireland midfielder Brady, regarded as one of Arsenal’s all time greats, stood down as the club’s academy director in May 2014.

His successor, Dutchman Andries Jonker, has had mixed success since he took over. Brady’s appointment will be confirmed officially shortly.
