So we're back again and what a way to start the Premier League!

A seven goal thriller at Emirates Stadium as Arsenal recorded a dramatic 4-3 win over Leicester City.

Substitute Olivier Giroud stole the headlines with a late winner to make it a heartbreaking first game for Leicester City who looked on course to record all three points.

Arsenal's club record signing Alexandre Lacazette got the Gunners off to the perfect start when he opened the scoring after just 94 seconds.

But the Gunners woeful defending cost them once again as Leicester hit back in emphatic fashion.

Shinji Okazaki brought them level before Jamie Vardy fired them into the lead.

Danny Welbeck gave the home side a major lift when he grabbed an equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

But Vardy threatened to ruin the party once again when he rose unmarked to head home on 56 minutes.

The Arsenal fans were fearing the worst once again, but two late goals inside the space of two minutes secured all three points for the north London club.

Aaron Ramsey started the comeback when he fired home from close-range before Giroud showed his quality once again when he headed home the crucial winner.

Here is how the action unfolded from a classic night in north London...

Wenger - Giroud doesn't want to leave

Arsene Wenger is thrilled that Olivier Giroud wants to stay with the club after his winning goal helped the Gunners record all three points.

Wenger said:

Character wise we have been great tonight.

You cannot keep the strikers happy when they don’t play.

We have many games and hopefully I can give them games.

I love the man (Giroud) and the player. He is a fantastic guy who loves the club.

He doesn’t want to leave but at some stage I opened the door for him because I had many strikers.

We love him and in the end he decided to stay.

The first goal was from a short corner and we were not focused enough.

We lost the ball for the second goal and lacked some experience.

Rob Holding is a great defender but he lost some of his confidence after the second goal.

We had a lot of experienced defenders out injured for the game.

I don’t know how good everyone will be.

There are six or seven teams who can win the league.

We have top quality strikers coming back.

I didn’t want to take a gamble with Ramsey and glad he didn’t get injured.

Vardy - Lapses of concentration have cost us the game

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy could not hide his disappointment after the heartbreaking defeat at Emirates Stadium.

We were put ourselves in a commanding position but two lapses of concentration has cost us the game.

We will get back on the training pitch to sort ourselves out.

We all gave 100 per cent and we could have scored even more.

But we can take a lot of positives from the game.

The main man Giroud

Olivier Giroud showed his importance to Arsenal once again.

Despite being strongly linked with a move to Everton, the French star showed his quality with the crucial winning goal.

Arsene Wenger will be doing everything in his power to ensure the Arsenal forward remains at Emirates Stadium.

I prefer to be on the pitch.

I try to help the team to reach our target and we needed this win.

The first game is important for the confidence and we need to keep going.

I am very pleased for the team and hopefully we can carry on.

Wenger - It is important we start well at home

We have more competition and not so many players missing the start of the preparation, so they have had more minutes going into the competition.

The Premier League is different because you have to have commitment, urgency and sharpness that leads to points.

I believe our preparations went well, but what we have to add is what you need for points.

I always look for confidence and belief, that comes with points.

In the last few years we have not started well so the target is to start well.

But the fixtures were not very kind to us. It is important we start well at home.

Gazidis - Wenger was the man we wanted

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has explained the reasons behind the club’s decision to award Arsene Wenger a new contract.

We are in a society now to throw away the old and bring in the new.

We thought about the issue about who we wanted to take us forward.

When we thought about the qualities it was someone who could represent our values.

Somebody who would play attractive football and we are well known for that.

Someone who would give young players a chance and we are conscious of that.

You look across the world - there are no better contenders than Arsene Wenger.

This wasn’t a decision made out of loyalty - it was made on us getting success.

We want to do well in the Premier League - we have not been close enough in recent years.

We recognised there was a gap and have done a lot of work behind the scenes.
