It has been one hell of a year for Aaron Ramsey.

On the pitch, he has fast become one of the key midfielders in Arsene Wenger's Arsenal line-up, while also enjoying his most successful ever year for Wales.

Along with Gareth Bale, he spearheaded Wales' Euro 2016 qualification campaign, which saw them reach their first major final in over 57 years.

But now he has something to celebrate off the pitch - after announcing on Twitter that he has become a dad for the first time.

Writing on Twitter on Friday night, he said: "Me and my wife have become parents for the first time to a beautiful baby boy!"

The little boy, who does not appear to have a name yet, posed for a picture comparing the size of his feet with his fathers, which was uploaded onto social media.

Ramsey married his partner, Colleen Rowland, in 2014 and this is their first child.

Trevor Sinclair sent a message of congratulations to Ramsey, reading: "big congrats Rambo, if you n your Mrs do half as good a job as your parents did on you he'll be fine"

And former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour added: "Congratulations mate if you need some advice. wet the babies head"

So to did Ramsey's Wales teammate, Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.

Arsenal's official Twitter account joined in the messages, offering their congratulations.

But Ramsey will not be celebrating on the pitch, after Wenger confirmed that he was not fit to return from his injuries for Saturday's clash at West Brom.

"Hector Bellerin is back, but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey are not available," Wenger said.

"There are of course some longer term injuries. Walcott is still one or two weeks away and then we have Welbeck, Rosicky and Wilshere coming later."
