Arsene Wenger faced the cameras on Thursday morning to preview Sunday's crunch Premier League clash against Liverpool.

The Gunners will be looking to get back on track when they travel to Anfield following the reverse at Stoke last time out.

They face a Liverpool side who have taken four points from their opening two matches and Jurgen Klopp's men will be buoyed by Wednesday night's Champions League win against Hoffenheim.

Wenger spoke about the possible sales of Alexis Sanchez, Shkodran Mustafi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as well as providing an update on the club's pursuit of Thomas Lemar.

Watch his press conference in full above. You can read highlights of what he had to say below.

Summary

That’s all from Wenger, here is what he had to say...

On team news: “Koscielny is available (suspension). Sanchez has worked very hard to be back and he is available as well.”

On Sanchez’s mental state: “He is very focused. He is happy. We just want to focus as a team and not look too much at the individual contracts of the team.”

On reported meeting with Sanchez today: “We have our agenda, which is quite busy, but we do not publish them.”

On Wilshere’s red card for the U23s: “I can understand a lot, when you have gone through what he has gone through - with bad tackles it was a human reaction.”

On whether Mustafi will be sold to Inter: “No I don’t expect... It’s difficult for me to talk about any individual cases.”

On Coutinho’s situation: “Every situation is different. I don’t know what is happening between Liverpool and Coutinho.”

On big players leaving: “I have to deal many times in my life with big departures, big players leaving, I always focus on the team.”

On Oxlade-Chamberlain: “We invested a lot of time and money in players like Chamberlain and for me he has a responsibility to the club.”

On Rooney’s international retirement: “He is one of the last of a great generation, he had maybe bad luck not to win the World Cup.”

On playing at Anfield: “Good memories and bad memories. Overall it’s true we have done well there.”

On the last week of the transfer market: “Both (ins and outs) can happen in the last seven days.”

On any deal for Lemar: “It’s dead because Monaco have closed the door definitely.”

On squad strength and transfers

“I am completely happy with the strength of the squad. I have said already we have too many players. Some players have no chance to play.

“If you have too many players of confirmed status you are in a difficult position to give a chance to young players.”

Are you still in the market?

“Both (ins and outs) can happen in the last seven days.”

On Anfield

“Good memories and bad memories. Overall it’s true we have done well there.”

Would you sell Oxlade-Chamberlain to Chelsea?

“I want to keep my best players. We invested a lot of time and money in players like Chamberlain and for me he has a responsibility to the club.”

On Sanchez maybe leaving

“I have to deal many times in my life with big departures, big players leaving, I always focus on the team. If it happens you have to find a way to survive at the top level.

“You don’t focus too much on individual players.”

On Rooney

“He has given a lot to England. He is one of the last of a great generation, he had maybe bad luck not to win the World Cup. What he has done is still absolutely remarkable.”

On Coutinho

“Every situation is different. I don’t know what is happening between Liverpool and Coutinho. I don’t know where he stands with them or where they stand with him.

“It’s always difficult because you want your players to be happy. In general you want the players to stay with their club when they have contracts.”

Do you expect to sell Mustafi?

“No I don’t expect... It’s difficult for me to talk about any individual cases.

“It’s always very difficult to predict what will happen and how will you respond to any solicitation.”

Can you understand Wilshere's red card the other day?

“I can understand a lot, when you have gone through what he has gone through - with bad tackles it was a human reaction.

“He is working very hard to come back from his fracture so another set back would be terrible for him.”

Is there a meeting today with you, Gazidis and Oxlade-Chamberlain?

“We have our agenda, which is quite busy, but we do not publish them.

“Some people outside the club look better informed than I am.”

On Alexis

Will Alexis start on Sunday?

“We have to make that decision. Overall he looks in a good shape, he has worked very hard. I don’t think he is too much disturbed by all the noises. Players at that level are used to it.”

Has he accepted the club’s decision not to let him go?

“He is very focused. He is happy. We just want to focus as a team and not look too much at the individual contracts of the team.”

Any bid for him?

“I know every bid we have of course but I think it’s best to focus on the game.”

Team news

Wenger confirms both Koscielny and Sanchez are back and available for Sunday’s game.

Arsenal close to clean bill of health

Aside from Santi Cazorla, whose return date is still unknown, Arsenal effectively have a clean bill of health.

The only other first team player currently missing is Alexis Sanchez, whose ‘abdominal injury’ has kept him out of action so far this season.

One suspects that injury might clear up, however, once the transfer window closes.

Wenger will certainly be quizzed on his situation today.

City planning Sanchez swoop

Arsenal could face a fight to keep hold of Alexis Sanchezwith Manchester City ready to swoop for the unsettled forward.

City have spent £215million already this summer and set to snap up former Manchester United defender Jonny Evans for £30m from West Brom.

Sanchez, who has not played this season due to an abdominal injury, is Pep Guardiola’s prime transfer target with the City boss ready to splash the cash to secure the Chilean’s signature.

But Gunners boss Wenger is standing firm at the moment and it could take £70m before Arsenal are tempted to sell.

The Frenchman is digging his heels in over Sanchez with City desperate to sign the forward before the transfer window shuts next week.

City have yet to make a formal bid but talks have taken place as they try to capitalise on Sanchez only having one year left on his current contract.
