Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has named his favourite team - the one his family would be very happy for him to represent.

And unfortunately for Gunners supporters, fearing the German playmaker could be on the move in the summer, it's not Arsenal.

Ozil, who at times has endured a difficult season at the Emirates, is entering the final 12 months of his contract at Arsenal.

He is in talks to extend his stay in north London, but says you cannot rule anything out in football as other clubs keep an eye on his availability.

Speaking to Funke Media Group, Ozil said: "Right now, I'm not thinking about it. But in football you cannot rule out anything.

"My family would be very happy about a return.

"Schalke is my absolute favourite club, I'm still a big fan. After all, I grew up with Schalke.

"In terms of potential, Schalke is the number three for me in Germany after Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

"They have wonderful fans and a great stadium. It is a pity that they are stuck in mediocrity. This fantastic club deserves more."

Gelsenkirchen-born Ozil came through the ranks with Die Konigslbauen, before a dispute saw him leave to join Werder Bremen while still in his teens.
