Arsenal have taken an alternative approach to north London derby preparations - by sending three of their players into The Cube.

Striker Alexandre Lacazette was joined by Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey as they took on the popular gameshow.

They each took on three of the game's most renowned challenges - Descent, Barrier and Dead Stop - as they competed for changing room bragging rights.

In the first challenge, Giroud was proved to be the most wily, but he wouldn't have it all his own way as the mental and physical challenges went on.

By the end, Ramsey's performance on the Dead Stop proved to be the difference maker, earning him 'The Cube Cup', presented by Betfair.

He said: “I’m a big fan of the show and while it was quite daunting to look at I was excited to take on the challenge and have a go.

“It’s fantastic to be able to say I’ve beaten The Cube.”

However, Giroud claimed that they had to let Ramsey win, just because he was such a big fan of the programme.

“The Cube provided us with a unique and innovative platform to test the Arsenal players’ skill under a different kind of pressure,” Betfair's Stephen Mault said.

“The challenge revealed that Aaron, Olivier and Alex are just as competitive off the pitch as they are on it.”

Ramsey is not the first sportsman to defeat The Cube, as multiple Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah took part in the show in 2012.
