Arsenal are in talks to sign Greek wonderkid Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Promising centre half Mavropanos, 20, is due in London to have negotiations about a £2.2m move from PAS Giannina.

Mavropanos would then be expected to be loaned out for the rest of the campaign with Werder Bremen a possibility.

Mavropanos has represented Greece at under-21 level and is highly thought of as one of his country’s best prospects.

Arsenal do not think he is ready for their first team now but believe he has potential for the future.

The deal is still early days but it is expected to go through. Arsenal are in the market for another centre half as they look to bolster their squad. They have also looked at West Brom’s Jonny Evans and Mainz defender Abdou Diallo.

Arsenal’s new scouting set-up includes former Borussia Dortmund scout Sven Mislintat who is determined to try and spot the talent early and develop them at the Emirates rather than having to pay bigger fees further down the line.
