Sean Dyche knew Harry Kane was on the path to fame and glory after handling life on loan at Millwall.
The Den was one of the stop-overs for a raw Kane five years ago in his early days at Tottenham — and Dyche would have been interested, too.
“We made enquiries, like others,” said the Burnley boss, who was appointed later in 2012, at a time when Kane was out on loan at Norwich.
“I know, having played myself at Millwall, you can learn a lot from that experience. It’s tough and not everyone finds that easy. He did very well because the fans demand a lot.
“They want to see people give their lot to the club — and I think Harry did that.
“He eventually went back to Tottenham, got himself super-fit and he’s never looked back.”
Except in August, a month where Kane has yet to score a goal in the Premier League.
As the clubs prepare to meet at Spurs' temporary home of Wembley on Sunday, Dyche added: “If he doesn’t score in August, would it be helpful? Er, yes.”
