Everton target Carlo Ancelotti is in talks to join Chinese Super League team Guangzhou Evergrande, according to the Chinese press.

And the Italian would replace another former Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari.

The Nanfang Daily newspaper claimed that Ancelotti is close to agreeing a deal.

The Italian, 58, was sacked by Bayern Munich last month and had claimed he had wanted to take the rest of the season out of the game.

Mega-rich Guangzhou Evergrande clinched their seventh straight Chinese Super League title with two games to go on Sunday – and the third in a row under Scolari.

But the Brazilian is now out of contract at the end of the season and will not stay in China.

World Cup winning coach Marcello Lippi is now the China coach while fellow Italian Fabio Cannavaro was the previous coach at Guangzhou.

On Monday night, Mirror Sport revealed Thomas Tuchel is Everton's No.1 target after they axed boss Ronald Koeman .

Koeman was summoned to the Blues ' Finch Farm training ground on Monday to be fired in person by chairman Bill Kenwright and main shareholder Farhad Moshiri.

The search for a new manager began immediately, with highly-regarded German Tuchel - who is available after leaving Borussia Dortmund following a fall-out with club bosses last summer - top of the list of potential candidates.

Contact has already been made with the 44-year-old’s representatives, but Tuchel will not rush into a decision — especially with the Bayern Munich job vacated by Ancelotti still a potential destination at the end of this season.

Everton Under-23s coach David Unsworth has taken temporary charge at Goodison Park.

Ancelotti himself is admired strongly by Everton major shareholder Moshiri.

Ironically, Ancelotti was brutally sacked by Chelsea in a side-office at Goodison in May 2011.

Everton will also look at other potential targets including Burnley boss Sean Dyche and Marco Silva, the Portuguese who has made such an impact at Watford.
